Motorola Finally Delivers Android 14 to 2023 Razr Phones (But Slowly)

Motorola’s reputation for slow software updates holds true again. While the 2023 Razr foldables launched with outdated Android 13, they’re finally getting Android 14.

The Good News:

  • Android 14 and May 2024 security patch are rolling out (gradually) to Razr and Razr+ (US only for now).
  • Razr+ users get bonus features like Always-On Display for the cover screen.

The Not-So-Good News:

  • The update rollout is slow and phased, leaving some users waiting.
  • International rollout hasn’t begun yet.
  • This comes nearly nine months after Google’s initial release.

What About Android 15?

It’s unclear if or when the Razr and Razr+ will receive the upcoming Android 15 update.

Overall:

While Motorola deserves some credit for delivering the update eventually, the slow rollout and lack of communication leave room for improvement.
