Pakistani cricket legend Zaheer Abbas has offered a crucial piece of advice to former captain Babar Azam, who is finding his form again after a series of comparatively subpar performances. Often referred to as the Asian Bradman, Abbas urges the world-class batsman to introduce more consistency into his game, noting that Babar’s recent performances have fallen below expectations. Abbas expresses hope that Babar will bounce back and deliver match-winning knocks, emphasizing the need for his form to translate into game-changing contributions.

Babar had a challenging time in the Test series against Australia, scoring only 126 runs in six innings. However, he showed signs of a resurgence with scores of 57 and 66 in the first two T20Is against New Zealand.
Zaheer Abbas remarked, “Babar is a prolific batter, and I hope he will play match-winning knocks for Pakistan.”
The cricket legend underlines the importance of Pakistan making a strong comeback, acknowledging mistakes in the first two T20Is that need rectification. Abbas emphasizes that solid fielding and catching are crucial for success, stating, “Unless good catches are taken or fielding is not well, we cannot win the match.”
In addition to his insights on the current state of Pakistani cricket, Zaheer Abbas also comments on the strained cricket relations between Pakistan and India. Lamenting the absence of international bilateral series between the two cricketing nations for over a decade due to political issues and regional instability, he says, “The distance between India and Pakistan is only of two steps. It’s disheartening that India doesn’t play international bilateral series with Pakistan.” The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place in 2005-06, with the last visit by India occurring 16 years ago during the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan.
Presently, Pakistan faces a 2-0 deficit in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
