Pakistan has inaugurated its first-ever women-only technology park in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), marking a groundbreaking move to empower women in underdeveloped regions.
Located within Women’s University Bagh, the 5,000-square-foot facility has been developed by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) at a cost of Rs31 million, in collaboration with the Special Communications Organization (SCO) and the university. The soft launch is set for September 23, accompanied by an open house where IT companies, women-led startups, and professionals will showcase opportunities.

The park is designed to host IT and IT-enabled service (ITES) firms, offering women a modern workspace that helps overcome traditional structural and cultural barriers. According to PSEB, the project aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will serve as a hub for innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship among women.
By situating the park in Bagh, the initiative reduces the need for women to migrate to major cities for tech opportunities, enabling them to participate in the growing digital economy. Officials believe the Women Technology Park will open new pathways for graduates, entrepreneurs, and professionals to thrive in the IT sector, fostering inclusivity and economic growth in remote regions.
