Pakistani cybersecurity expert and ethical hacker Shehzad Ahmad has been recognized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for identifying a security vulnerability in their systems.

NASA expressed its gratitude to Ahmad through an official letter, acknowledging his contribution to detecting the vulnerability while following NASA’s Vulnerability Disclosure Policy (VPD) and responsibly reporting the issue.

The letter reads:

“The ability to detect and report on security vulnerabilities is a valuable skill in the information security industry. Your reporting has facilitated NASA’s awareness of otherwise unknown vulnerabilities and helped us protect the integrity and availability of NASA information. Please accept this letter as a token of appreciation for your efforts.”

Shehzad Ahmad is a Google-certified cybersecurity professional currently working as a cybersecurity engineer at IPS Pakistan, an outsourcing firm. Prior to this, he served as a project manager for cybersecurity at Great Future Pakistan and was a bug hunter for HackerOne.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from Abasyn University and has previously been recognized by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for discovering security vulnerabilities in government systems. Ahmad also received a certificate of appreciation for his role in helping to control the spread of COVID-19.
