The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun preliminary discussions regarding central contracts for the 2025-26 season, as the current three-year structure, implemented in 2023, enters its final phase. While no major overhauls are expected, minor category adjustments may be made based on player performances during the 2024-25 season.
Players like Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf, who were excluded last year, are being reconsidered. Top domestic performers may also be added under the Emerging Players category in Category D. The current contracts expire on June 30, but PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is likely to retain the existing system for continuity.

In 2023, contracts were divided into four tiers, with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in Category A. Five new players were included last year as part of the PCB’s youth development focus, while some experienced names were left out.
