The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced plans to introduce a new nationwide system aimed at monitoring internet and telecom networks across the country. The initiative is designed to enhance network performance, strengthen security, and improve regulatory oversight of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
Under the proposed plan, PTA will implement a National Telecom Monitoring Solution that will establish a structured technical and regulatory framework for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across Pakistan. These IXPs are expected to improve local internet traffic management and reduce reliance on international routing.

The system will allow real-time monitoring of network performance, traffic patterns, and potential security threats. Officials say the move will help ensure better service quality, faster response to outages, and stronger compliance among telecom operators and internet service providers.
PTA is expected to engage with industry stakeholders before finalizing the framework to ensure it aligns with national requirements and international standards.
