The Punjab government has approved a development budget of Rs. 110 billion for government schools across the province for the fiscal year 2025–26. This significant investment aims to resolve long-standing issues in 38,000 public schools, with a focus on upgrading infrastructure, filling gaps in essential facilities, and enhancing the quality of education.

As part of the initiative, 50,000 new classrooms will be built to reduce overcrowding, and the shortage of furniture in schools will be addressed. Additionally, 72 government schools will be transformed into “Schools of Eminence,” aiming to set a benchmark for high-quality education in Punjab.

The plan also includes the completion of boundary walls, provision of clean drinking water, and other basic amenities. All development activities will follow a new model involving school management councils in the decision-making and approval process.
