Punjab Govt Orders Early Summer Break for Afternoon Schools Amid Heatwave

The Punjab government has declared early summer vacations for all afternoon shift schools across the province starting May 21, 2025, in response to the ongoing heatwave and escalating temperatures.

As per a notification issued by the School Education Department, all public and private schools in Punjab will officially remain closed for summer vacations from May 28 to August 14, 2025. However, afternoon shift schools have been directed to commence their summer break earlier on May 21.

All schools are scheduled to reopen on August 15, 2025.

The directive also instructs Chief Executive Officers (District Education Authorities) to ensure strict implementation of these orders across their respective districts. The move prioritizes the safety and well-being of students and staff amid severe weather conditions.
