The Punjab government has officially extended winter vacations for schools and colleges across the province due to ongoing severe weather conditions.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the decision was taken after consulting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), which forecast a prolonged cold spell with extremely low temperatures in the coming days.

The extension aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students, as many areas of Punjab continue to experience harsh winter conditions. According to the updated schedule, educational institutions will now reopen on January 19, 2026.

Authorities clarified that recent rumors circulating on social media regarding school reopening dates were inaccurate. Parents, students, and teachers have been advised to rely only on official government announcements for authentic information related to academic schedules.

Meanwhile, the PDMA has urged citizens to take precautionary measures, especially during night and early morning hours, as cold weather conditions are expected to persist across the province.
