Three police officers were martyred in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, after an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted their vehicle on Monday. The attack took place within the jurisdiction of Paniyala police station.
According to police officials, ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and driver Sakhi Jan lost their lives in the blast, while Constable Azad Shah survived with injuries.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot shortly after the explosion, moving the bodies to a nearby hospital and gathering forensic evidence. District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada visited the site, where senior officers and the Bomb Disposal Unit briefed him on initial findings and the type of explosive material recovered.

DPO Sahibzada condemned the incident as a “cowardly act,” asserting that such attacks would not weaken the morale of the police force or deter ongoing efforts against militancy.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also denounced the attack, describing the perpetrators as “Fitna al-Khawarij.” He offered condolences to the families of the fallen officers and praised the courage and sacrifice of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police personnel.
