Schools in Pakistani Regions Closed for One Week After Fatal Rains
Following heavy rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, authorities have taken measures to ensure public safety, including the closure of schools and colleges.
The torrential downpours and snowfall have caused significant damage in various parts of the country, particularly in KP, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir, resulting in the loss of at least seven lives and substantial infrastructure damage.
In response, the government of KP has opted to shut down schools in Abbottabad, Chitral, and Upper Dir districts. This decision was made considering the hazardous conditions, making it challenging for students to commute safely. In Chitral and Upper Dir, schools will remain closed for three days.

Similarly, Balochistan has also decided to close schools and colleges for a week in light of the widespread destruction caused by heavy rains, particularly in Gwadar and Chaman, among other regions. A notification issued by Balochistan’s caretaker government cited inclement weather conditions as the reason for the closure.
Prior to this, the Balochistan government had declared a state of emergency in rain-affected areas of Gwadar and deployed armed forces to assist the local administration in managing the situation.
