The Sindh government has announced that May 1st (Wednesday) will be a public holiday in observance of Labor Day.

This holiday will be observed across all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative purview of the Sindh government, with the exception of essential services. It is anticipated that the federal and provincial governments of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also declare a public holiday on May 1, 2024.

It’s worth noting that Labour Day, also known as May Day, was established as a national holiday in Pakistan in 1972. Pakistan has been a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) since its independence in 1947.
