The head of investor relations at Microsoft, Mike Spencer just revealed in an interview conducted by the popular new channel, New York Times that the newly introduced Xbox Series X gaming console is expected to face supply constraints until June of this year, mainly because of a shortage in supply.
Reports revealed in the past were of the view that the shortage in supply for the gaming console will last until April, however, recent findings have confirmed that the shortage will continue until the first half of 2021, leaving many gamers somewhat dissatisfied. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major contributor to the shortage, as businesses such as Microsoft still face some challenges in meeting the demands of their customers.
In addition to the pandemic, scalpers have also made a contribution to the supply issues as well. Retailers and consumers not able to get their hands on the consoles, which is one of the main reasons as to why the prices are so high since, because the product at this point, is still pretty rare.
Industry analysts and the CEO of AMD, Lisa Su believes that fans all over the world will have to deal with supply issues pertaining to the Xbox for pretty much the whole year because even after June, the supply will only increase by a limited percentage. This means that people looking to get their hands on the Xbox Series X or the latest AMD desktop GPUs will have to wait a while or spend quite a lot of money in order to get their hands on the new gaming console.
The same issue also applies for the Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series GPUs, which have also experienced a cut in supply. In addition, AMD has said the same about Sony’s Playstation 5 as well, predicting that the console will also forsee supply issues in the year, so all in all, gamers will have to patient, which is going to be tough task we presume.
